More Taiwanese Bonsai
Here are three more bonsai from the 2008 Taiwan Bonsai Creators Exhibition booklet which appears on Bonsai Shari Si-Diao, Cheng, Cheng-Kung’s website. It’s the pots, as well the trees, that really grabbed me.
Glorious trees. I especially like the first of them. Beautiful sinewy trunk, great proportions. Very natural and yet magical looking. If that deadwood in the middle of the trunk rots out, it will only add to the tree’s enchanting nature.
Hi Al,
I like the first one too (you can usually tell my preference by which one I put first). In addition to the sinewy trunk with its elegant line, I like the light open crown, with all its spaces for John Naka’s birds to fly through.
Wayne,
The first tree has no dead wood. The second is an Eunonimus japonicus. Regarding the pots, these are made specifically for the Taiwanese Bonsai market.
Kind regards,
Jose Luis
Wayne,
Sorry, the unidentified tree is an Eunonymus japonicus.
Kind regards,
Jose Luis
Thanks again Jose,
I can see where Al got the idea about deadwood. There is a little wood on he first tree that looks it come become deadwood.
No problem Jose. Please always feel free to comment without apologies. Your knowledge of Taiwanese bonsai is a big help.
