Two things I love about this planting, besides the novelty. There’s a leaning tree in it–very natural and real in any coniferous forest we’d have here in the West. Also, Lenz doesn’t try to tuft-up the foliage pads, allowing these trees to actually resemble larches. Part of a larch’s charm is its awkwardly-pointing, often sparse branches.
