I borrowed this brilliant tricolor Toyo nishiki flowering quince from Bill Valavanis, the driving force behind the success of the U.S. National Bonsai Exhibitions.
You have three days to change your plans and throw your life into momentary chaos so you can enjoy the delights of the 5th U.S. National Bonsai Exhibition. The disruption to you routine may cause a little short term inconvenience (and perhaps the disapproval and even derision of your significant other) but all that will be forgotten when you walk through the door and are swept away by the brilliance and power of the event. Really! It happened to me two years ago and I am confident that it will happen to you too.
And if you think you’re too inconvenienced or that your efforts are particularly special, how about Ryan Neil driving a covered wagon full of a ‘plethora’ of bonsai all the way from Oregon to Rochester?
White line fever. Photo courtesy of Ryan Neil. Here’s Ryan’s caption… “Covered Wagon | Day One. Loading the plethora of trees and goods on the truck was a challenge, but we did it. (Sixty pounds under the 26k-lb. weight limit!) Drove a thousand miles. Stunned by the vast skies and landscapes of the American West. Sunrise in Idaho, sunset in Wyoming.”
