Contest #5: Mystery Bonsai

It’s a mystery to me Though I can tell you where I found this tree (not yet though), and I do know the species, I genuinely don’t know who the artist is (he/she doesn’t seem to be listed on the site). So maybe you can help me, and win a twenty five dollar gift certificate to Stone Lantern in the process. Be the first to correctly answer all four of these questions and you’ll be declared the winner 1. the name of the artist 2. the species and sub-species (if applicable) of the tree 3. the height of the tree, … Continue reading Contest #5: Mystery Bonsai

Contest #4: Who & What

Win a $25 Gift Certificate from Stone Lantern The first person to properly identify the man in the red apron and the botanical name (genus and species) of the monster tree in the photo above, will win a $25.00 gift certificate from Stone Lantern. When we have a winner, we’ll post the site (with link) where we found the photo.

Contest #3: Mystery Tree

Imperfections aside, I still believe this is a remarkable bonsai. This brings us to the first question: Why do I believe that this is a remarkable tree (you’ll have to read my mind on this one)… …and, question two: Whose bonsai is it? The first person who provides the correct answer to both questions will win a $25.00 gift certificate to Stone Lantern.

Winner: Nature’s Bonsai – Photo by John Palmer

This photo was taken by John Palmer, who is the founder (now retired) of Stone Lantern and Bonsai Today magazine. John and his wife Pat live in New Mexico and spend big hunks of their bountiful time wandering and photographing the glorious Southwest. Our apologies to John for not attributing his photo when we first posted it. To do so might have made the contest moot. So, without further ado; the winner is (drum roll): Glenn Strong, who wrote: I’ll give it a try. I think it is in Canyonlands National Park, near Mesa Arch, looking SE. Not a bad … Continue reading Winner: Nature’s Bonsai – Photo by John Palmer

Contest: Identify this Wild Mystery Tree & Win

Not too long ago I came across this image of this amazingly wild, rugged, wonderful old tree somewhere on the internet. Unfortunately, I neglected to label it the instant I grabbed it (always a mistake). Now, I don’t remember where I found it and I’d like to know so I can attribute it to the person who took the trouble to find it, photograph it, and post it. So here’s the contest. The first person who posts (in comments, see link above) the name of the person who took the photo and where it is on the internet, wins a … Continue reading Contest: Identify this Wild Mystery Tree & Win
