Norman Rockwell’s Bonsai Painting 2/11/14

Just got this image from Robert Steven. He sent a whole package of fascinating images as run ups to his International Bonsai Art & Culture Biennale in October. We’ll be posting them regularly. Meanwhile, here’s a little known Norman Rockwell painting to get us started….

The image above is to help clue you in to Robert Steven’s International Bonsai Art & Culture Biennale in Indonesia. I think it’s going to be a unique and wonderful benchmark bonsai event. See you there!

Meanwhile, the image just below has nothing to do with Roberts’ big event, but as long as we’re on bonsai events (in more or less in the same part of the world), here’s something from our friends down under…

The Hastings Bonsai Group, based in Port Macquarie, (Australia) will be holding their annual Bonsai Exhibition on Friday 28th February, Saturday 1st March, both days from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 2nd March, from 10am to 3pm.

  1. Thanks for posting Wayne.

I always start with the question :
” Are you bored with all the same bonsai exhibition everywhere around the world ? ”
Then, International Bonsai Art & Culture Biennale 2014 shows you something different.

This is the first collosal bonsai exhibition ever done with new presentation concept to accommodate creative and innovative inspiration, to collaborate bonsai art with other art forms, because we believe art is a living thing and has no limit in conveying messages of the creator.

IBA&CB 2014 will open a new perspective to the bonsai word, and bring more fun to bonsai art.
Beside the world class bonsai in unique display, you will still witness many “conventional” display but in better way. Every bonsai will be displayed individually in separate tokonoma, with background and accessories such as accent-plant, scroll etc. Nothing will be less than what you see at the high-class bonsai show !

We simply want our international guests to enjoy the best bonsai of Indonesia in different perspective ! Only selected bonsai will be allowed to participate in IBA&CB 2014, because we want to show ONLY best bonsai from Indonesia….and we will only do it in every 2 years…..

No contest, but there will be ”King Trophy” from Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, “Ismail Saleh Trophy”, “Saburo Kato Trophy”, “Iwasaki Trophy”, “Amy Liang Trophy”, ”WBFF Trophy”, “BCI Medal“, “China Trophy” from the Chinese Penjing Artist Association, “Ryuga Dragon Trophy”, “The Best Bonsai Display Trophy” etc.

You will also be the part of many cultural activities….
